This ancient African mask shares with the Ngbaka and Ngbandi sculptures a ridged nose. Parallel striations run around the face, while small ears are inscribed high up. Metal tabs form the teeth. Their neighbors are the Ngbandi and Ngbaka whose statuary has influenced their tribal sculpture, and various banda groups. Their geometric-looking masks are used during the rites of the mani society.
