African art among the TurkanaThis is an East African population living mainly in northwestern Kenya in a hot, arid region west of Lake Turkana, but also in Ethiopia and to a lesser degree in South Sudan. East African neck rests are famous and prized for their clean, minimalist aesthetic. The clean lines allow one to appreciate the overall form as well as the simple but remarkable details. The piece consists of three legs on which rests a slightly curved top that is narrowed in the center. Metal inlays form decorative patterns highlighting the curve. The patina is a smooth golden mahogany color.
