Watch the video
Male figure solidly established on large digitised feet, and whose hands with joined palms spread out in a fan on the bust. The smiling face has immense whitened orbits in the center of which the eyelids appear closed, and a nose reduced to a hooked tip.
Velvety matte patina. Scaled residue of kaolin. Cracks of desiccation, erosions.
Neighbors of the Yaka and the Kongo in the west of ex-Zaire, the Zombo fear, like the Kongo clans, the god named Nzambi. Their soothsayers use fetishes similar to those of the Kongo, but the ceremonies associated with initatiatic rites derive from Yaka traditions. Fetish carvings are used by the ngangas in order to protect against bad fate, to heal or to bring luck, wealth and fertility. Their polychrome masks have very large bleached orbits.
