Originally in African art, the settlers were statuettes dyed with vegetable dyes. They generally represent whites as perceived by the indigenous Baule people. However here it is a certain influence on the way of dressing that is manifested in the statuary. With the contact of pious images, Western religions and school, a tendency to realism will appear. This type of sculpture also embodied the "ideal spouse" in a ritual context. The polychromy has also been well preserved.
