Mumuye statue. The Mumuye are a little known ethnic group, they are estimated at about 400,000. Current knowledge tend to claim that these statues had a very important social role within the community and were used in communicating with the dead and spirits, divination, and curative purposes etc. .. Art Mumuye Plays a major role in social cohesion of ethnicity. This statue was kept in box of young initiates but also put at the disposal of sorcerers, the master of rain and others. The Mumuye obey the master of rain which is their highest religious authority.
