These metal objects, equipped with a handle, were used by the followers of the osun cult of Oshogbo. This cult refers to the "refreshment" of female sterility. These objects always include motifs associated with the rivers from which water was drawn to bring it to the sanctuary. The kingdoms of Oyo and Ijebu, within which metalwork occupied a considerable place, were born following the disappearance of the Ifé civilization and are still at the base of the political structure of the Yoruba. The Oyo created two cults centered on the Egungun and Sango societies, still active, who worship their gods, the Orisa, through ceremonies using masks, statuettes, scepters and divination supports.
